Sidecar
Created shortly after the First World War at Harry's Bar, Paris. An Army captain was in the habit of arriving in a chauffeur-ridden motorcycle sidecar, and Harry created this for him.
Ingredients
- 1 measure of cognac
- 1 measure of Cointreau
- 1 measure of lemon juice
Instructions
Shake and strain.
Garnish: slice of lemon. A dash of sugar syrup is now often added.
The Sidecar is more often served now with broken ice in a rocks glass and with a little less lemon.

- Applecart: Replace cognac with apple brandy
