Corniche

In eighteenth century Russia, innkeepers offered a multitude of flavoured vodkas, often one for every letter of the alphabet, and each with a distinctive fruit or herb flavour.

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 measures of Russian vodka
• 1 measure of clear strawberry juice
• 1 teaspoon of caster sugar

Instructions

Shake and strain into glass three-quarters filled with broken ice.

Garnish: half a sugar-dipped strawberry.
