Amaretto, 'the lovers liqueur', was created around 1525 by a beautiful young widow for artist Bernardo Luini, a member of the Leonardo da Vinci school. As his model, she was immortalised in his fresco of the Madonna, which can be seen in a Saronno sanctuary to this day
Ingredients
- 3/4 measure of Amaretto di Saronno
- 1 measure of white rum
- 1 measure of double cream
- 1 1/2 measures of strawberry puree
- 1/3 measure of strawberry syrup
Instructions
Blend briefly with half a glassful of crushed ice.
Garnish: half a caster sugar-dipped strawberry.
Alcohol Content: 1.5 units
