Screwdriver
A drink which appeared as recently as the 1950s. Barlore has it this drink acquired its name when a US oilman in Iran was seen to stir one with his screwdriver. It is tempting to believe the name is connected with the account given by N. E. Beveridge in Cups of Valor, which describes how US marines stationed at Tientsin in 1945 attempted to make their own gin. An 18-inch screwdriver was used to stir the brew, and the result known as Screwdriver Gin.
