Moscow Mule
1 n 1947 John Martin, of Heublein & Co., USA, who had acquired the rights to Smirnoff vodka, was pondering ways of encouraging Americans to buy it. He was telling his friend Jack Morgan of the Cock 'n' Bull Saloon in Los Angeles, when Morgan mentioned that he was stuck with a large quantity of ginger ale. They mixed the two, added a dash of lime juice, and concluded the resulting 'Moscow Mule' was delicious. Word of the new cocktail spread rapidly, and soon Smirnoff vodka was in demand from coast to coast.
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 measures of Smirnoff vodka
- 3/4 measure of lime juice
- 5 measures of dry ginger ale
Instructions
Add to ice-filled glass.
Garnish: wedge of lime, add straws.
