Ramos Fizz
Created around 1888 at Henrico Ramos's Imperial Cabinet Saloon, New Orleans, USA. The precise formula was a closely guarded secret until the saloon closed in 1920 due to Prohibition. Only then did Henrico's brother, Charles Henry, reveal this recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 measures of Old Tom gin (substitute: gin and dash of sugar syrup)
- 3 drops of orange flower water (substitute: dry orange Curacao)
- 1 measure of lemon juice
- 3/4 measure of lime juice
- 1 measure of egg white
- 1 measure of full cream milk or light (whipping) cream
- 1 teaspoon of powdered (caster) sugar
- 3 measures of soda water
Instructions
Shake with half a glassful of crushed ice and pour unstrained, add the soda and straws.
