Irish Coffee
The original recipe is said to have been created shortly after the Second World War by foe Sheridan, head barman at Shannon Airport on the west coast of Ireland. His recipe was rather strong, using about 2 measures of whiskey. The drink only really took off when the San Francisco restaurant Buena Vista became the first to adapt and popularise it. The addition of Kahlua is a recent innovation. Sometimes a teaspoon of Green Creme de Menthe is mixed with the cream before being floated.
