Marilyn Monroe
In 1668 a monk called Dom Pétrus Perignon became cellarer at the Abbey of Hautvilliers, an important position since the Abbey's financial survival depended upon wine sales. He set about improving the quality of production and soon Hautvilliers wines were achieving twice the price of rival brands. Dom Perignon champagne was Marilyn Monroe's preferred brand.
