Classic Champagne Cocktail
In 1889 a New York journalist organised a cocktail competition, with a gold medal as first prize. Mr John Dougherty emerged victorious with his Business Brace. He revealed that he had discovered the recipe 25 years earlier in the southern states of the USA. It was exactly the same as that given below, but with the addition of a small quantity of spring water. The precise origin of this recipe remains a mystery.
