Champagne Napoleon
In the early hours of 18 March 1814, Napoleon Bonaparte described his battle plans to Mr Jean-Remy Moet, his host, and said 'If 1 should fail... 1 want to reward you now for the admirable way you have built up your business, and all you have done for our wines abroad'. He then presented Mr Moet with the Chevalier's Cross of the Legion of Honour, which he took from his own uniform. Beat that for an endorsement.
