Old-fashioned
In 1939 President F. D. Roosevelt mixed one of these for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
Ingredients
- 2 measures of bourbon
- 1 sugar cube
- 1 dash of Angostura
- 1 measure of soda water (optional)
Instructions
Place cube in glass and add Angostura. When bitters have been soaked up by cube, three-quarters fill glass with broken ice and add whisky (and soda).
Garnish: half slice of lemon and a cherry.
Replace whiskey in the following popular Old-fashioneds:
- Brandy Old-fashioned: 2 measures of brandy/cognac
- Canadian Old-fashioned: 2 measures of Canadian whiskey
- Gin Old-fashioned: 2 measures of gin
- Rum Old-fashioned: 1 measure of white rum and 1 measure of dark rum
- Scotch Old-fashioned: 2 measures of scotch
- Tequila Old-fashioned: 2 measures of gold tequila
- Vodka Old-fashioned: 2 measures of vodka
Alcohol Content: 2.0 units
